The “Season Opener” at the Terrace/Kitimat Regional Airport went off without a hitch, even with the weather threatening on Sunday.
Several new cars were there with Prince Rupert’s Gord Hidber running his Chevy II to a respectible 6.4 second run.
Pierre Amado brought out his new ride, a Duster. Pierre even beat his brother Paul in his Demon in a heads up race in time trials.
“The only time he ran fast is when he raced me” said Paul jokingly after the run.
It was a Daum Saturday as Tanner Daum took home “JR King of the YXT” and his father, Bruce Daum took “King of The YXT”.

Sunday started out with rain sprinkling, threating to turn to rain, however it cleared up in the afternoon during eliminations, turning to hot and sunny.
Delany Ribero won “Jr Dragster” cutting a perfect light (.500). Lou Ribero won 2nd place and Tanner Daum won his second podium position of the weekend with
a third place in “Jr. Dragster”
“Sportsman” was won by yours truly, Ed Evans. After making it to the semi finals I had to race last years defending champion Dana Amado. Dana lost by a fender and took home 3rd place, setting up the finals with Doug Ribero. Ribero took home 2nd Place.
“Pro” had Craig Baker take out Brandon Roth in the finals and John Simms in his bike took home 3rd place.
“Super Pro” saw Paul Amado take out Kris Barnett in his Altered for 1st place and Russ Gutnechkt and his 50′s pickup winning 3rd place.
There were not enough bikes/sleds this year for thier own class, so they have been rolled into the regular classes depending on how fast they run.
A good weekend of racing was had by all. A big Thanks goes out to all of the volunteers who helped pull this race off.

May is here and The 2012 Drag racing season opens this month with the first of four races at the Terrace Regional Airport.
Race dates will be:
May 12th and 13th – Season Opener
June 16th and 17th – Summer Classics
August 4th and 5th – Hot August Nites
Sept 1st and 2nd – Season Ender
All Dates are Saturday and Sunday except for the Hot August Nites race, which will run Sunday and Monday. So circle those dates on your Calender
Along with the usual cast of great looking fast cars , expect to see some new cars showing up at the track this season.
So if you see smoke coming from the Airport on these weekend dates, it’s not a fire just some hot cars burning down the Airport 1/8 mile track.

Those who race and those who organize the races appreciate the enthusiasm and support shown by the spectators and the sponsors who make Drag Racing a reality in this part of the Northwest

April 20th to 22nd 2012 marked the Annual Abbotsford B.C Classic & Custom Car Show. This year featuring Nitro Dragsters, Jet funny cars along with custom car builders Chip Foose, George Barris , Gene Winfield and Big Daddy Don Garlits with one of his famous “Swamp Rat III front engined dragsters.
